If a common folk-dance was made today what would the movements be like? What would define its patterns and gestures? What emotion might it express?
RIBBING/HALSACKDA’s interest as choreographers is to transform their video blog; Bamboser/Nya Folkdansen into a media bank consisting of a patchwork of video footage, this over time will turn into a sculptural, spacial and virtual picture. A collage of movement self-portraits of people focusing on what they personally feel is the folk-dance of today.
This project champions the value of being together, the celebration of change, everyone’s right of doing movement and the bonding that this can establish.
Nya Folkdansen is an exchange between professionals and creative, talented young people.
Within this live broadcast project you will be able to follow other peoples “movement portraits” as well as contribute yourself!
